DESS Production a été créé par Galya Milovskaya-Dessertine pour réaliser et produire son premier long métrage de documentaire « Les moments où le souvenir revient » en 1983.
DESS Production s’est intéressé à mettre en images les évènements culturels du milieu artistique russe à Paris, ainsi le film de 52 minutes « Ce Fou de Peuple Russe » offre un large panorama de l’art plastique russe contemporain et des artistes installés à Paris dans les années 70, vague comparable à celle de l’avant-garde des années 20.
Ce film sélectionné dans de nombreux festivals internationaux, comme la Mostra de Venise, et le Festival des Films sur l’art à Montréal, a obtenu le Prix Spécial du Jury au Festival des Films sur l’Art à Padoue, Italie, en 1986.
DESS Production a été à l’origine d’un long métrage, burlesque musical « La Grande Tambouriade » (Barabaniada) de Sergueï Ovtcharov, présenté au Festival de Berlin en 1993, coproduction avec Lenfilm : Studio du Film Premièr et Expérimental et Kinostudio « Lenfilm » (Russie).
